I just purchased my boat and it came unrigged. I've had sail boats before but would like to see a offical layout. Regards, Alymar

Layout

May be hard to find from 1983. What you can do is lay it out on the ground and puzzle it out easily with someone familiar with sailing. Whatever you do, don't put the mast up alone. Have a helper pin the forestay as you right the main, like Iwo Jima.

Running riggin or standing riggin?

Is it totally unrigged or just with the mast down. There was not a 223 designation for Hunter like for Odays or Windstars; theirs was designated as a plain 22. I doubt that you will find riggin information on an owner's manual or brochure as that is the dealer's bread and butter. For a proffesional rigger call Michael at Bay Riggin (727) 215-0704; labor will run you $75 an hour plus a travelling/call fee of $80. Componets and lines are extra. If the mast is just down get a couple of friends to help you step it. Make sure the halyards are connected and always check for overhead obstructions like trees or powerlines. If all the shrouds, stays turnbuckles and halyards are disconnected or missing get a proffesional or someone knowledgable to help you. As you may know riggin on a sailboat is critical to its safe operation.

Hunter 22 Manual

I have a 1985 Hunter 22 which I purchased in 2001 at which time I also obtained a manual. It's vague in some areas but does lay out both standing and running rigging lengths/etc. I replaced all of the rigging for about $250 and was amazed at the ease having never done it before. Let me know if I can be of any help. John
