I am buying the boat above and I have been looking for a copy of the original owners manual and can't seem to find one anywhere online of from Hunter. Did one ever exist for this model?

Also, getting the cover off the engine under the ladder without breaking something is a mystery. Can anyone help with instructions?

The boat is clean and well cared for but it will need new rudder bearings. Found a thread that has helped on understanding what that will entail. Any other key areas I should be looking out for? I know that's a big question.

Is there a way to get a pre-made Dinghy Davit (prefer arch) assembly for this model or will I need to get it custom made? Anybody have any drawings for one they would like to share?

Thanks, looking forward to my new boat.....

The one area that needs a check and possible attention as soon as possible is the holding tank. If it is metal replace it as soon as possible. The metal units pit and then leak leaving that "stuff" in places where you think that you can not reach. The specs are also located on sailboatdata.com . I don't understand your problem with "getting the cover" off for the engine. On mine the stairs lift out and I have access panels on both sides plus the tool storage box under the step lifts out.

It's a great boat and you should enjoy it.

35.5 Manual

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. I looked at Hunter Owners.com and found a few drawings. I also found the FTP page for Hunter and their manuals but they don't have one. I sent an email and the guy at Hunter is looking but I'm not holding my breath. I was hopping somebody out there has scanned it and would share it. I am not familiar enough with Hunter models to know which one is a close match for the 1990 35.5 Legend. Any suggestions?

It looks like the holding tank has been fixed among other things. I'm a lucky guy. Just have to replace the rudder bearings at this time.....so far.... we'll see.

Re: 35.5 Manual

The 35.5 was a way different step from the 355, it predecessor. The layout of the aft stateroom being full and not half as well as the cockpit lent it being a progressive vessel for its time. The hull design with the wing keel was a huge step ahead not to mention the cockpit and swim platform design with its two hatches. One main design point that I believe made's it a great sailing vessel is that all the tanks, water, holding, and fuel are all on the center line of the vessel which improves the vessels characteristic. There were changes between 35.5 as the years went on. Like different boom highs, and changes in the appearances of the cabins accessories such as the sliding doors on the storage cabinets above the lounge benches and the construction of the table. In all, it is a great sailing and live aboard vessel. I have not seen any Owners manual except the many pages of specs and both wiring and plumbing diagrams that I have not scanned. But perhaps that should be a project?
