HELLO ALL! I have been spending alot of time trying to get my 1GM Yanmar in running shape. Motor itself is running great but still overheating. Believe that the water intake is clogged with barnacles. I'm not quite sure how that intake tube comes into the boat. What is the best way to clear passage. My schematics are very blurry. My boat is 1981 27'. Also, which outside drain does the water in the sink in the head follow to the outside. Head sink is on the left as you enter the salon. I don't see the drainage on the outside and wondered if this went into my waste holding tank. He, he, he, I know you may think I've lost a marble or two.. but have only had the boat 6 months and weather has just started to warm. I have found that exact information is difficult to get. Your experience and comments appreciate. Peace!

Me too

I have an h27 also, few years earlier. My head sink drains thru hull six inches above waterline port side. About the overheat,if boat is new to you, first thing id do is replace water pump impeller. Fairly easy job for handy person. The intake thruhull, access thru door under galley sink. Should have a valve on it.Get in the habit of turning it and all others off when boat is not in use. Put starter key on string and hang it on access doorknob. This so you wont start engine without opening valve. Good luck red

Hello, First follow the flow of water, starting with the sea strainer. If you have constant flow at the strainer then your sea inlet is clear. Then check the exhaust elbow water inlet, if you have constant flow here, with engine running, then sea water pump is fine. Put exhaust water hose back and restart engine and check for water flow out of boat. I believe this is where your problem will be, in the exhause elbow. Buy a new one, easy installation. Good luck.
