On my Hunter 30 I get a overheating light and buzzer when I restart the engine after it is warm. The engine is never hot to touch and there is no "hot" smell. The light and buzzer remain on about 30 seconds and then go off. The impeller and the thermistat have been replaced and problem still exists. Any ideas???

idle before shut down?

I have had the same symptom in my raw water cooled 2gm. The fix is to follow the manual which calls for idling for I believe 5 minutes in neutral after running at load before shutting down. This will allow the hotter parts of the engine to cool off and prevent the unnerving high temperature buzzer from coming on at all when the engine is restarted.

I bought my 79 H30 this year and my experience has been that the buzzer's always come on when the key is turned on, and remain on after the engine is started for a few seconds. Once the engine is warm and restarted they remain on for just 4 or 5 seconds. When cold, 10 to 14 seconds before shutting off. I have the original manuals and wiring diagrams if you need copies let me know.
