I just had my offer accepted for a Morgan 415 Out Island. I've posted a thread for help locating a surveyor and have already received some good advice. However, I also have a question concerning boat transportation. I've received a number of quotes. One company has given me a very reasonable quote and other helpful information. Before commiting, though, I was wandering if any of you sailors have had any experience with them that you care to share with me and the others on this forum? The name of the company is Lockview Marina & Transport Co in Cayuga, NY.

overland transport my 2c

I never heard of this transport co. But I have had two boats moved by a transporter. First find out how long the transporter has been in business and get some references you can check. 2nd. Make sure the transporter has his own equipment and is not hiring a gypsy with a pick up truck and no insurance to transport your boat. And finally check the transporters insurance carefully, If there is a huge deductable look elsewhere Hope this helps

Check the local guys first

You have to pay two ways anyway so pick an outfit local to you so it will be easier to deal with them if there is a problem. They are also more likely to care for your boat if you are telling locals how good or bad they are. This will also give you a chance to find out locally who is best. And supporting the local economy is good too. Asking the yard managers can be enlightening. I know of some places around here that will not work with certain haulers. One of them that I previously used broke my friend's mast on his Ericson 34 and he missed a whole season. The hauler told my friend to claim it on his insurance and that lawyers would need to be involved if he wanted more satisfaction than that.

Highly recommend

I used Lockview Marina and Transport to move my 30Ft Hunter from Plattsburg NY to Wilson NY. After shopping around they had the best price and everything went very smooth. They kept me well informed about the progress of the move and when I met the truck in Wilson everything looked like it was being very professionally handled. I would highly recommend them.
