Hurricane Isaac came and came and came, then went....
Took pictures of the marine (Bayou Liberty Marina) where the boat is now docked. The pictures are in order of time. Midday on Wednesday the water was close to the road. That same afternoon around 4 o'clock completely covered the road. The next afternoon...well you can see.
Boat made out like a bandit. No problems what so ever. In the last picture the dock is still about a foot and a half underwater. This was as of Sunday.
I used a little trick my buddy showed me on how to tie the lines to the pilings. We strung 1/2" pvc couplings (about 10 per piling) around the pilings and had the lines pulled tight to the cleats on the boat. This seemed to work well as it held the boat in place in the slip and didn't allow it to travel back and forth as you would have if the lines were loose to allow for travel up and down the pilings. Once the tide rose the couplings rolled up the pilings as the tides warranted. You can see the line in the last picture as well. Our boat is in the middle of the third picture with the blue furling and sail cover.

Think I'll leave her tied up that way for good.

Rigged mine the same way with rollers on the tie lines and spring lines on the sides. At DeZaire Marina in Madisonville.
Only thing the pilings on the aft at the dock were a little too short and roller lines came off ( 7'-8' surge) but I had extra spring lines on the aft cleats. No damage and in the same spot as I left her. My wife being the jealous sort was little disappointed. Worked out well for me though.

I also lost one of the middle port lines due to the piling being to short. I added two aft spring lines also. Glad to hear everything turned out well for you.

Do you have a better picture of these PVC rollers? Because I'd really like to see how you're doing that. At our marina, the docks are floating, so there's no concern about line length, except for the two fixed pilings at our boat's bow (we back in to our slip). On those, I have to allow for tides and storm surge when tieing lines, so I'd love to have a roller system to use there.

I'll take some close ups of the rollers when I get out to the boat on Friday and post up the pictures for ya.
