I did not mean to send without a message.
I have a tremendous amount of friction on the outhaul on my Charleston Spar boom. You can see where the outhaul rubs against the stopper.
I was thinking of trying to locate a low profile fairlead and running the line over the top to lift it off of the stopper. Any suggestions?

When you find one, please post it. We are all in the same boat. And please pardon the pun!

It sure would be nice to have a fairlead that just slides onto the track!

How about something as simple as a piece of 1/4" thick white plastic breadboard? Chief

I am not sure that I understand how the breadboard would work. Can you explain?

Cut a piece to fit over the friction point. It would act as a smooth surface for line to slide over. Chief

The problem is that nobody uses track for outhauls any more. I don't think Charleston expected Catalina to do that.

If you REALLY want to solve the problem, remove the track, remove the hardware that attaches the clew to the track, and instead secure the clew with a length of double sided velcro strap.

HI ALL:

A little trick I used was to put a small spacer underneath the pin that hold the wheel in place. It pushed up the wheel enough so there wasn't any rubbing. Worth a try.

Cheers

PS. Jackdaw ..... have you done this and if so do you have a picture of it.
