Motor Rod

McMaster Carr is a supplier of machine parts of all kinds. Google them. I tried all sorts of connections and settled on one made up of threaded tie rods (for adjusting alignment port starboard) and spring ball ends (so it can easily be snapped off to raise the motor but without any question of it snapping itself off). By the way, the dealer installed setup had the motor out of alignment ,which I didn’t notice because it was only a small amount and when I corrected it our H260 gained considerable speed.

Rudder - Engine Connector

This question comes up fairly often. My H260/E9.9 set-up cost $30 and does not require removal to raise the engine. In four years I've taken it off once to take the engine to get a tune-up. Maybe there are unique configurations that require a more expensive and challenging fix but this seems like a simple solution in search of a difficult problem. I'd be interested in what year H25 you have and how the rudder is configured in relation to the engine. More on my approach: Go to: http://kobernus.com/hunter260/ezsteer/ezsteer.html

Rudder - Engine Connector

There is no difference between tiller or wheel steering. The connection is between the outboard engine and the rudder. The most common application I've seen is when fishermen tie their main outboard to their smaller engine. Check out the pictures on the E.Z. Steer website at this link: http://www.ezsteer.com/index.htm

George, with all due deference for your expertise and

your contributions to this site, there's a substantial difference between the connections, tiller vs. wheel. The engine end is identical, but there's nothing affixed to the rudder post to hold the other end of the tie rod. I think there were so few tiller versions sold that there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket gizmos that are applicable. I even thought of just buying the bracket used for wheel steering and cutting part of it off, but the price was way too rich for my blood. paul

tiller

Oops... I stand corrected. I guess I just learned something. I've seen several H26 tiller versions, but to be honest I've never seen a H260 tiller so I guess I was talking out of school.
