Hunter Owners,

Am interested in any information re replacing existing outboard motor bracket on Hunter 23. We would like to replace the existing bracket with a Fulton Motor Bracket. We want to make sure the bracket could be put in the same place as the old L shaped bracket and not interfere with the rudder. Any suggestions would be appreciated as this is our first boat. We are replacing the old bracket because of wear(1986 Hunter 23) and to facilitate raising and lowering motor while underway. Thanks!

The bracket you install should be dictated by the motor you have or plan to have. The Fultons are fairly light duty and the Garelicks are pricey but strong as heck. What is your motor?

If that is a 2-stroke, then a Fulton or smaller Garelick will work OK. If a 4-stroke, you will probably have to get a Garelick as the Fultons (that I've researched) are not rated for a 100+ lb 4-stroke outboards.
