Either way
the Mac is a fine starter boat, and it will not look so big after you sail it for awhile. It will look a lot bigger the first time you go to wax it!Using the baby stays in teh mast raising kit, I find it no harder to rig it in the water than on land. However, on the trailer often requires two people to unsnag stays from trailer fenders, licenceplates, etc. or a lot of getting up and down if single handed. If youi drop a tool or a bolt or clevis pin, on land you might find it. In the water, there is nothing to snag.and no retrieval of things dropped.I furl the main on the boom, wrap securely, then disconnect and take below for trailering. It rides just fine on the cushions forward or rear. I just loosen the life lines a few inches, (I have a quick release pin in them) so the spreaders ride on top without much weight on them. I raised the mast support in the pedestal about 12 inches so the rear is higher than stock.Makes it esier to get in an off the boat.
