How many others out there are having a hard time with a transom mounted outboard that has to be rotated 75-90 degrees before the tiller arm can come down to change the throttle setting? Maybe it's just me, but I think it's dangerous and hard on the engine to have to kick it out of gear, rotate to change throttle, rotate back to center, and kick it back in gear! I have an old Mercury 4 hp that the tiller arm is about 18" long. I have noticed that there are some smaller engines with shorter tillers, but may not be short enough. Anyway, using a short piece of channel iron, a stack of washers, some JB weld, and a square shank Craftsman screwdriver I now have the ultimate shorty tiller arm. As I have no need to rotate the engine there is no load on the assembly. And it sure is nice to have full control coming into the dock! If anyone wants more info let me know....Thanks, Jay
