I just bought a 22 and put her together, as she was trailered and broken down for storage. Upon setting the mainsail, I realized there was no logical place to fasten the out haul. Does anyone know where this should fasten? Julie

On ours

It goes out to and eye on the end of the boom and then back to a horn cleat.

Another question, please

Thanks for the reply. On my boat, this is the place where the topping lift attaches. Is this the same with yours?

It was....

until I added a Boom Kicker and removed the topping lift. http://www.catalina18.net/articles/boomkicker.htm

Added a cleat to my boom.

I was wondering the same thing when I got my C22. The outhaul simply led aft from the clew, around the back of the boom, and then back up and around, and tied off to itself!!! That was too sloppy for me, so I got a small cleat and fastened it to the starboard side of the boom, just slightly aft of the clew. The outhaul still leads aft along the top of the boom, around the back end, and up the boom's starboard side, then into the cleat. Makes it easy to adjust while under sail as well.
