I just bought an Origo 1500 stove on e-bay. Under the flame diffuser, when I tilt the top section, there is what appears to be a type of gray styrofoam-type material. Is this supposed to be there? Is this the rubber gasket that seals the fuel container? Does anyone have any experience with this stove? Thanks, David

The rubber gaskets...

...seal the container for longer periods of disuse and are to be removed prior to use. As for the styrofoam? Your guess is as good as mine, unless it's just there from the original packaging. Cheers, Bob

So . . does that mean

that if the gasket is not on the fuel canister, I should be able to see the fuel canister when I look below the diffuser? Thanks, David

That's correct...

...you should be able to see the fiberglass wadding through the diffuser, provided the damper is open. Cheers, Bob

Thanks, Bob. . .

The "unknown material will be removed and I'll order the gaskets from West Marine. I'm looking forward to using the stove. David
