Original Striping

I have a 1987 31' Hunter sloop. The current striping is a custom job and needs replacing. I need to know the specs of the original striping at Hunter and where I might purchase replacement tape.

Tape or Paint.

Richard:Are your stripes tape or paint? You may want to contact Hunter Marine first, they have have this stuff or may be able to point you in the right direction. West Marine has some that is similar, but I doubt that it would match the original. You may also check Defender, Sailnet and Boat US.

Try this site. Never did business with them but there are several out there on the web which are a lot cheaper than the catalogues.

Paint your boot and shear stripe

I think what ever it is, tape or paint, I would prefer to paint it. Cost more, must put in on the hard to do it, but many more colors to choose from and a better over all appearance. If I really liked the boat, the new paint (on both shear and boot) makes all the difference in the world on how she looks. One other thing, while you have her out on the hard doing the painting, have the side buffed, you won't believe you eyes, you would like you just spent $6,000.00 on the topsides. Fairwinds, Art
