I am also interested in this question, That is of moving back and
forth along the side deck. The aft supports for dodger on "Tern" are
secured to the top of the cockpit combing just aft of the cabin, and
near the outermost turn of the combing. This provides lateral support
but reduces the area needed for stepping onto the side deck. I am
thinking of moving the support to the inside of the combing or even
angling the support back to the cabin but have not had time to play
with this idea yet. Is the current location for the aft supports
normal or are other configurations being used? The dodger frame is
well made of stainless tubing. The original frame of aluminum tubing
was also with the boat when I bought her. I think the previous owner
made a wise choice in replacing it with stainless as the quality is
much better and it provides me a steady support when I want it. He
also added an additional handrail of tubing about 4 or 5 inches above,
but attached to, the aftmost support. This handrail is a godsend. But
to my original question. Where do most users attach the aftermost
dodger support without restricting the side deck?
