It depends on the point of sail

It depends on the point of sail. We had a 91 and found mid teens on a beat and then move down from there til you have it as flat as you can on a run. The 310 is a very responsive boat and it won't take you long to figure out where to set her up. We moved up to a 361 and love so many aspects of her. Some days I wish, for the sake of pure sailing pleasure, I had the 310 back. Enjoy her!

310 vs. 361

I agree with Mike. We moved up to a B331...love the new B331 but miss the quickness of the smaller boast but not the pounding. Hey Mike, we also considered the B361 but opted for the B331 instead and still wonder if we made a good decision. Did you consider the B331 when you moved up and did you get a classic or RF main?

B361

Gerald, we only looked at the 361. We wanted the xtra space and the 361 had so much to offer we only focused on it. Plus the seperate shower really sold the wife. As far as equipment we went with the roller furling main. I have mixed emotions about the decision even to this day. When the wind is light or on the nose I wish I had the standard main. It would go a lot further in enabling me to point higher and with more power. On the other hand once the wind gets above 10kts it's much less an issue. The roller main is the real winner when trying to reef or douse sail in heavy air. No more working like a fool trying to drop the main and tie in a reef or flake it entirely while standing on a pitching cabin top. I just open the clutches, throw the furling line around the winch and crank away. I'm done in a matter of moments vs minutes all from the comfort and safety of the cockpit. The other thing I miss that comes with a larger boat is the feeling of speed. While in most conditions I can outrun the 310 it doesn't feel like it. The 361 is almost twice the displacement and it takes a whole lot more to shake her. Consequently you don't get the same feeling you do on a smaller boat. Yes she's more stable in heavy air but you miss that feeling you can only get in a smaller boat. Mike
