Looking @ a couple of c30s that have a tiller. Is the boat too much for a tiller? I have heard that the c30 rounds up in brisk weather and a tiller might not be the way to go?
Appreciate any opinions

That sounds very strange

Round up and tiller are related? One has nothing to do with the other. A sailboat has a choice for steering, basically: tiller or wheel. The older C30s had tillers, then wheels were either added by POs or the factory started putting them in based on demand. Eventually they changed the cockpit layout to accommodate the wheels, but you'll find lots of wheels on the C30s with the old style cockpit layout.

A boat rounds up because it's too windy for the amount of sails that have been hoisted.

The answer? Reef. Which has absolutely nothing to do with the tiller or the wheel as a choice to steering mechanisms.

I think it is more of a personal preference. I learned to sail with a tiller many years ago then bought a C30 with a wheel. It took some getting used to, my natural tendency was to steer in the opposite direction like a tiller. Then there is the idea of remaining in one position on either tack rather than changing sides. I prefer to be on the leeward side so I switch sides on each tack.
