I have just ordered a new 423 ( an upgrade from my 361 ) and am thinking of installing davits. I am looking for any comments regarding owners experiences with davits as I have been told they can be more nuisance than they are worth. If any owner has installed davits on their boat, what type and what is their opinion

Davits

Lachlan, I put davits on my 361 this past season and am really happy that I did it. First, it is nice to have the dinghy out of the water rather then towing it eveywhere. They also add value to your boat. I was able to install mine in about 5 hours I guess so it is not really a bid deal. Good luck with your new boat Charlie Gruetzner

Try the arch

Lachlan, Before you go to davits have a look at the Beneteau arch. It'll take a 11' rib and a 15hp outboard easily. I was on a 423 with one and when I ordered my 393 I got it with an arch too. B didn't have an arch for the 393 so I got the 423 arch which fits just as well. You can mount radar. solar panels and wind generator on if you want. The price is the same as good quality davits.
