Opening ports for the cabin

Hi,
My Catalina 30 is in the boat yard for refit. I replaced center fixed window in main cabin with 2 opening port lights on each side. Plan on replacing forward ports with same. Also doing keel and mast work.

What a kool idea. The cabin can get pretty hot in summer.
Vertically, it looks as if the portal frames fit the existing cutout.
The yard looks like they did a good job filling in the spaces.

I can't tell what brand they are. Can you post the model numbers?

This will definately turn Catalina owners' heads, and you will find yourself re-telling your project alot. I like the thinking outside the box pal.

Neat upgrade. I just did the Cruising Concepts windows replacements in my 1977 Catalina 30 last summer. I will probably do the Beckson port upgrade for the head this summer coming up. I see you still have the old aluminum frame windows, I had not thought about putting Beckson ports in the cabin also. Regards, Joe

I used Vetus PM-25 ports that I bought 6 on Craigs List new in the box for $60 each. There are better choices I'm sure but I'm on a budget so that limits my choice. I did the work myself and did some fiberglass cutting and fabricated the gussett between them. I love my Catalina 30 but in South Florida you need some opening ports.

Great idea, but I personally don't like the look.

The Lewmar Standard opening ports are a much closer match to the old aluminum frames and they come in a variety of sizes too. For the forward (head) window, the #2 is almost a perfect match. I dunno exactly what the dimensions are on the larger windows, but the #4 Lewmar is about 25" long I think.

I just ordered all new windows for my 30 which include 2 opening one above closet and one in head .
Ordered them from Cruising Concepts , have seen them on another boat and they look awesome
