Just wondering how many people have made the crossing from Fl to Bimini? Trying to get some information about it? Advice? Talk to some people that have done it? Did they enjoy once they got there? 50 miles of open water sounds like a big challenge?

I met a couple of the "couch cruisers"

This summer I rented a house on Ocracoke island for a week,,I also trailered my Mac 25 down to try to sail a bit in the waters there..I also timed my vacation to the same week as the conch cruisers outer banks tour,at the time I had only been out on my boat twice,,,I was looking to meet these people, learn a thing or too,and possibly sail a bit with them,,Well,,,,I approached a memeber on the docks the first day they came in to the Island on Silver lake,,,Boy what a very unsociable person I met,,Well,,,the next day I approached two more of the conch cruisers,,,they were just as unsociable too,,,Sadly,,for them and me I assume,,I was willing to show the people around the island,,I had two 4 wheel drive trucks for beach trips,,grills for cook outs and & etc,,Oh well,,,Nuff said,,,,,

Hi Gary,

HI Gary, That is my plan, to sail to Bimini...If not next year then 2008...I am shooting for next year, but realistically it will probably be two years...Either way, I am going to get some ICW cruising in next year! (I work best with deadlines...hahaha) I have a '72 Venture 2-24, and am just starting on a winter refit. I am posting pics on my website. privateer-tradin dot com You might also like to check out conchyjoe dot com...He is from Atanta also, and can point you in the right directions... Malcom, I am a bit shocked to hear that about ConchCruisers...Although I will still check it out and form my own opinions...Perhaps they were indeed tired, but that is no excuse to be rude...I know exactly how you feel, I went to Miami in Feb for the boat show, all hyped up, "Gonna meet Bob Bitchin!" Whooo Hooo. He snubbed me...Told me later that he was tired. I was "irked" but did not let it ruin my good time! I realize that, once you get used to something, it is not as exciting as it once was...But one should not look on anothers excitement with distaste. I feel sorry for folks who lose the excitement...I hope I never do! :) Skip Grant

New England Trailer Sailors...

...This may be the same as the Conch Cruisers. These folks trailer their MacGregors from the upper Eastern coast areas, all the way down to Florida for the Bimini trips. Its an interesting site, with a great wealth of experience for the trip...passports, complications, fun, anchorage, planning, stuff needed for the trip, etc, etc.
