Ok we screwed up this spring we let the holding tank get stinky. It went untreated for the better part of a month. We just never got out to the boat... Bad weather and schedules kept us away. This weekend we pumped it out but it still stunk each time we flushed. I then rinsed it out and pumped out twice more. Until the discharge was clear. I could't tell if it still stunk because it was too breezy. Question is Peggy I went and bought a gallon of KO today. Is it to late? Scott

No...it's not too late...:)

Add the recommended dose of K.O. with the first flush and it should be o.k. However, a word about live bacteria: it can only live as long as it has a food source...and there's usually enough in the tank to keep it going from one weekend to the next. But if you're away from your boat for an extended period time, it's best to assume that the K.O. in the tank has exhausted its food supply and died. To be on the safe side, add another dose with the first flush any time you're away from the boat for more than a week...'cuz if you guess wrong, the only way to cure it is another pump and rinse.

Food source?

So Peggie, if the K.O. needs a food source, how does it live in the bottle that it comes in, and for that matter how long is the bottled K.O. good for, is there a shelf life? Tom
