my bad.... forgot my figure eight.. etc.. etc.. and now I have to run my Jib sheet back up and over... I seem to have mis-placed my 40 foot ladder and the boat is in the h20... any suggestions? Has anyone pulled the wife up the main halyard on a stick? Is the recommended for such a small boat sitting at the dock with lewmar #6 winch.... ? what to do mate?

Climbing the stick

Get yourself a climbing harness and a pair of ascenders. Going aloft is no joke. Unless your wife is an athlete I wouldn't suggest sending her up.

Try a small boy

Preferably aged 6-8, lightweight, and handy with small tools, as long as he's not testifying these days in Santa Maria.

Bosun's chair - no problem

We hoisted my brother - a 200 pounder to th top of our mast to fix the windex a few years ago. We used the main halyard for him, and the spinnaker halyard as a safety line. If you didn't have a spinnaker halyard, I think you could use the topping lift as the safety line. No problem with stability. The 75-84 h27 has plenty of ballast, and we were nowhere near breaking strength on the lines. David Lady Lillie

May not need to go aloft

Firstly, as you're contemplating going up the mast, I'm assuming you're talking about the Jib halyard right? If so, then I'm also assuming it has a shackle attached? Is the shackle at the top of the mast, or did it go right over the sheave? If the shackle is visible, then I have a cunning plan that may work for you.
