Well it could have been worse . Was supposed to spend a relaing weekend on the boat but
Was to get of work at 11 oclock friday and fly to my boat , but got off three hours late so was speeding a little and got at 150 dollar speeding ticket , missed my flight , flew out 3 hours later and 200 dollars more poorer. got to Vancouver and went to get my car i leave there and lo and behold keys were left at home hanging on key hook , said oh well rent a car and driive to the boat and get spare car keys , three hour lineup at Canada /US border to cross oh well , go to get on boat and realize boat keys are with car keys at home , It is now 7 oclock , drive arouind looking for a store to buy a hacksaw or bolt cutters , nothing open , drive around until I spot a tow truck and he says he has an old set of bolt cutters I can borrow and return the next day , go to use the cutters and boy are they bad , finally manage to snap open the lock and in the process break two knuckles , oh well went sailing saturday all sun and 15 knots of wind ...WHAT WE DO FOR OUR TIME ON OUR OATS

Gee I'll never complain again about my 45 min drive to the boat only to find I left the keys at home. Any way you can get the boat closer to the house?

Aw shucks. That border crossing is a real hassle, but don't you have some "Quik Pass" to avoid the touristy lines?

Either that or get a new hobby...:):):)

Hope you heal soon so you make your boat heel again soon.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Second the combo lock. I also would see if your marina would let you keep a set of keys in the office as a spare.

I hide a spare boat key on board - taped under something - not telling where.
Do same with spare car key on car.
Do likewise with spare house keys in case my kids come to visit and I am out.

Learn to treat yourself like you would treat any other idiot and you will be 'protected'.

BTW:- Anyone wanting to break in will just smash their way in as they have no time to search for keys nor any regard for property.

Combo lock- great idea.
I also will no longer complain about forgetting something and having to drive twenty minutes back to my house. But still, it's enormously frustrating which is why I now keep a nylon boat bag in a kitchen drawer. Only things in it are the boat keys and my notebook, but the simple act of getting it out puts me in the frame of mind to think of the things needed to sail- and the notebook will remind me of projects to bring tools or supplies for.
So, when I finally head to the marina, the sunglasses, cell phone, hat, keys, etc. are all in the right place and I actually remember to put the gas can in the car, along with a cooler, games for the kids....and kids.
