One way winch

Hi,When dropping my keel I was not able to use the winch.It would only work in the clockwise direction. The posaid it "worked fine before". It appears to be the proper winch it just wont go down without tripping thecatch that hits the spocket.When I turn the handle counter clockwise it just unscrews from the winch.Any help greatly appreciated.....Thanks,Tim Pinkham

on my 22, the problem was solved by taking the winch apart and freeing up the stuck clutch parts. it is a fiber washer that glued its self to the winch fraim. be careful it is brittle. don't oil it, just free it up. the handle should not come all the way of the winch, it should have an " E " clip or a nut holding it to the shaft

nothing can ruin your day more than a runaway keel, especially when you are standing next to the winch. Ouch. Bought a new improved winch from cat direct. No more tears.
