Most of the Vegas I have seen have only one step. My boat has two.For those who have one step, would you rather have two? Or if you have two steps, would you rather have only one? Thanks!

I have the engine cover lid and one additional step below on the engine front cover. I think one is good. Two steps seems kind of bunched together. Maybe good for youngsters to have two, adults not so much.
Same as Tim and agree with his comment.

Hi folks, I just thought I would add my 2 cents. I too have the main top to the engine and then another step, however I think this other step is important. How do I know this? I've often had to go up and down without the front cover to the engine being on (which is where the other step is located), as I was doing maintenance and found that getting topside without that "first" step, having to get to the top of the engine in one, was very difficult. Now having said that, I've got a Yanmar 2 GM which is different than the original engine, so the step up might be higher, but for me, that second step breaks up a long reach to get into the cockpit. Thanks, Hal. I guess I should have worded my first post better. I was not counting the top shelf as a "step", just the one (or two, in my case) on the front engine cover.
Gene, well that certainly clears things up...ok, then I'm with the others, I have only one and can not see the need for two.... not sure what the original design was, but I've only ever seen one step up to the top of the engine cover. Sorry for the confusion. Hal
Ours has 2 - It's a series one, built in 1967 (No. 170). Hasn't been an issue for the humans; just for the dogs - in their case a long 2x10 works well, but is a bear to store.Klaas
