On the Rocks - Off the Rocks

[Sequitur]

In late January as we were sailing across the Sea of Cortez to San Carlos from Santa Rosalia, there were strong winds. When we arried in Bahia San Carlos, we learned that seven boats had either broken from their moorings or had dragged their anchors and washed ashore.

After we had anchored Sequitur, we took Non Sequitur around the anchorage shooting photos of the beached boats:

We saw some activity at this last one, and sat in the dinghy watching as a team of commercial salvors hauled her off the rocks. I shot a video of the action, and have finally gotten a good enough sniped wifi connection to upload an 85 meg file to You-Tube:

What A Shame...

...it always tears me up to see that. A friend of mine lost his in the Azores. There is a lot of time, money and effort in those boats. Fortunately, the people are resilient or they wouldn't be there in the first place.

So, I suppose the trip in the Sea was largely a motor as typical?

winds can get strong in sea of cortez--i witnessed 70 mph when i was there on a camping trip a few yrs ago and the local resident told me 70 mph was not uncommon--many do not realize this and arent prepared----
