Was reading an article on what to look for in purchasing a Catalina 25 (we are in the market for one). It suggested that the models 1986 and on were better partly for the ports--solid plastic not the older ones that were assembled. Since most of the boats we are finding for sale are older than 1986, I am wondering if the older windows pose a leaking problem. If so is disassembly and reseal an ok fix. Would like to hear from owners of pre-1986 boats if this is really that much of a problem. We know that salt water and swing keels need to be looked at when purchasing a boat. Any other suggestions for a want-a-be 25 foot Catalina owner?

Windows (portlights) are not a problem to reinstall. Catalina Direct has the packages. I had a 1981 and never had a leak, ever. Best place for C25 chat is www.catalina25-250.org. Stu

1986 was a key year

At least for C22's. The cockpit and interior of the C22's changed a lot in 1986 along with the portals. I think it was a big improvement. If the same thing happened with the C25's then you may want to looke at a 1986 or newer model to get a feel for the difference and which model you prefer.
