Hello Fellow O'Day Owners. I'm trying to figure out the year of my older-model O'Day Javelin. The Hull No.: 26546. The Class No.: 2267. Thanks.

The fact that the boat has those 2 numbers (Hull# and Class#) rather than a single, 12-digit Hull ID Number, tells us that she was built prior to the 01NOV72 start of the USCG-Required HIN. On that plate the Hull# refers to total production number of O'DAY Sailboats up to that point, and Class# refers to how many Javelins. So, theoretically, you have the 26546th O'DAY built, and it is the 2267th Javelin built.
O'DAY updated the deck design of the Widgeon, Javelin, and Day Sailer for 1971 and later, your boat is one of the updated versions, so we know she is 1971 or later, since the HIN came in about 3 months after the start of the 1973 model year (although I have not yet found an exact date as to when O'DAY stopped using these little metal plates for ID), so your boat could be an early 1973.
Now, final clue, that redish-orange color was one of the 2 choices for 1971 models, and the stripes on the side plus the O;DAY logo were used that year. The Hull# of 26546 fits into the late 1971, maybe early 1972 models, and it appears that although the mast appears to be a replacement, not original based on the color of the spar, I do see that your boom is "Gold-Annodized" as is the lower part of the mast sticking out of the deck. For 1972, I think in celebration of the 1972 OLYMPIC Games, O'DAY introduced Gold-color masts and booms on all models,

SO...... I would judge that your boat seems to be an early 1972 Model year boat, or a VERY late 1971 model (Model years started in August, so a boat built in August 1971 to July 1972 would be a 1972 Model).
