I have an older Javelin and don't know what the hull number tells me. I have looked at all of the websites listed in the earlier forums and they all apply to boats after 1972. I believe this boat is older than that. The number on the transom is: Hull# 8664 Class# 340. Does anyone know what this can tell me if anything? Sailed it for the first time since my kids and I restored it yesterday and she is a fun little boat...move right along...nearly flipped her...now I know that the floorbards float better then the cooler.

Rod Johnson,

just a bit older than 1972, like 10 years!

I would guess that your Javelin is a 1962 or 63 model based on the numbers! The Hull# refers to total production of O'Day sailboats (you have the 8664th O'Day built) and Class# refers to how many Javelins (you have the 340th Javelin built) The Javelin was introduced in 1962, so, based on her being #340, she would be an early one! WOW! take good care of this CLASSIC!
