I recently bought a used Dytek MDA-10 3 bank 30 amp marine charger. Brand-new condition. No info available on web. Anyone have the manual? If not, anyone familiar with the AC side-it has three screw terminals labeled: "HI, GND, and LO". Anyone know how to correctly connect AC to this unit? Is the "HI/LO" with reference to 220/110 volts? TIA

Best Guess

Remember that 110 vac is really three conductures. There is a black wire that is hot (110 vac), a white wire that is common (110 vac) and a green wire that is ground. The white wire is grounded somewhere, but not necessarily at the boat. Only the green wire is truly grounded at the boat. Also, no current is suppose to flow in the green wire. Current flows in the white wire and because of this it can have a voltage between it and ground. The HI terminal would be the black wire, the LO terminal would be the white wire and the GND terminal would be the green wire.

Jim is correct...

just rewired my unit (identical to yours) and that was the pattern I followed. I, too, was temporarily stumped by the terms "HI" and LO" on the charger. Ned Strain s/v/ Family Therapy 1995 h336 Chicago
