hi everyone, this subject has been posted before but i thought i would see if anyone has come up with any new ideas or solutions to this problem. i think this is common element with the 23.5, 25.5, 240 and 260 models. the cockpit cushions (seatbacks) in our 23.5 are shot. the industrial strength velcro that holds them is shot (UV degradation). so i am wondering if anyone has a recommendation on how to best replace them, and at the same time, a better way to attach them? all inputs are welcome. thanks - ed

Remove all traces of them
I took them off and recovered them one year but as they got worse I just remoived them and the velcro and the adhesive. Now I just use the Sport a seats available on this site. They are the best money I've spent on the boat in quite a while.

Getting rid of the awkward and uncomfortable cockpit Hunter cushions and replacing them with "Go Anywhere Seats," was a great move. But how do I get rid of the velcro that was glued onto the sides of the cockpit? I don´t want to experiment around with solvents that might stain the fibreglass. How do you remove the velcro? I removed them and threw them away. It took a bit to get off the velcro glue -- wasn't easy -- lot of rubbing and Goo Gone. But it was worth it.

The $120 cushions...
...are the set of backrests. BottomSiders are expensive because the process requires the very best clsoed foam made; it can't have any patches or blemishes. It is also _very_ labor intensive. A nice cushion, though.

The original post referred to the coaming wall back cushions that screw or Velcro to the coaming walls. I got a set from BottomSiders a couple of years ago for about $120. The originals were held in by screws but the new ones (which are thicker) came with adhesive Velcro strips. Is the $338 price for similar seat _back_ cushions or for cockpit _bench_ cushions? ...RickM...

Not the same thing
I misread the original post. I went to BottomSeaters and got an estimate on bench seats cushions for my hunter 23, not back cushions. The estimate was $338.00 for 2 custome bench seat cushions. That seems a little expensive to me.

While the sport seat may be fine today, that is cheap foam and you will sitting on fiberglass in the not too distant future. We can also use our BottomSiders when it is raining (we remove our terry covers). Then we cover them when the weather is hot to keep them cooler. We have had our BottomSiders for about 5-6 years and they feel and look like new. Even the mice like them. They chewed a little hole in the corner of one (nice nesting material). We called BottomSiders and the sent us a free bottle of vinyl paint to match and patch the cushion.
