Hi folks - just discovered this site - great idea to the initiator. I hope somebody can help - on 23/12/2000 I went sailing and things went twang! The top bracket for the port capstay said bye bye birdie and sheared the spreader as it accelerated to the deck. No injuries thank goodness - BUT. The insurance is kindly replacing the spreader with an earofoil fitting totally different from the original peace of aluminium pipe (apologies to designers - but that's what it looks like. What I need to know is what angle it is best to set the earofoil at to achieve the ideal mast bend when tentioned.
