yeah, what Dick says....
Ahoy Tom,As Dick implies, if you have any help, you don't need no stinking winch. Just muscle the beast up there. If you want to feel a little better, buy a little cheap block and tackle for a four to one purchase and a bunch of 1/4 inch line (maybe 100 feet or so, can't remember) and have a helper up front on the bow. connect the line on one end to the fore stay, connect a single block somewhere on the bow of the boat and run the line through it so your helper can kinda help with hauling the mast up. It helps to take a quick breather and the 4:1 purchase will let your helper hold the mast for a minute or so while you clear lines, jump from cockpit to cabin top (a bit of a large step without that help).Or, if you have yourself and another gorilla, just plain muscle it up there. What you have to be most concerned with is side to side movement of the mast. It can cause some damage if it gets out of hand. I never found it necessary on the 22, but you can make some makeshift mini shrouds to help hold it straight.Good luck -- the 22 is a great boat.Brad on the Willy T
