Hi Al, As you know I just purchased a new rudder for my 1988 legend 37 from you. The question I have is, can I install two grease fittings on the rudder post (inside the boat, above waterline) and use waterproof grease to fill the shaft? (remember I had electrolysis on the lower 3rd of my rudder post) I also coated the bottom half of the post with V.C. tar. I would like your opinion on this, Thanx Larry S.

Beware of bottom paint

Larry, I have been told thar the shaft should be free of any bottom paint. You may be adding to your problem. Let me check with my metal expert and get back with you. The grease fittings sound like a good idea. Thanks, Al Walker Foss Foam

V.C. Tar is a sealer

Al, I coated the shaft with V.C. tar wich is a sealer, not antifouling and can be used on metals as a primer for anti-fouling paint. If I used anti-fouling paint on the post I know it would cause problems. Thanx, LAS
