Having ruled out the wheel pilot for the safety and performance of an under deck pilot..(Thanks everyone!) how about some what's hot and what's not in design and brands for entry level down under autopilots on a 10,000 lb. 31ft. sailboat? come in autoheads.. Luke

Ray Marine

My boat came set up with a Roberston, which are supposed to be top rate. I think Simrad now handles them. It turned out the system was fried so the dealer I bought the boat from was a Ray Marine dealer. The existing electric linear drive was compatible so we went the ST 6001. I am amazed at how well this works - not perfect - but awfully damn good. I got the S1 corepack, which is cheaper. I'm 34' and weigh 14300.
