Do anyone know the ratio of oil to gas for a 1994 Johnson 9.9 HP Sailmaster Outboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Monte Brown

25:1 vs 50:1

do the first tank with 25:1 just to get things lubed up, rest of the season go with 50:1

opinions

My opinion of heavey oil mixtures is mostly negative. Extra oil fouls plugs and pollutes lakes. These same engines, when rigged with oil injectors run a 100 to 1 mixture at virtually all power settings under 3/4 throttle. That is why, with modern oils, most manufacturers recommend a conservative 50 to 1. Yamaha was recommending 100 to 1 for their 15 HP outboard, which is the most aggressive I have seen with a standard 2 cycle. Jeff Peltier

50:1 first 3 times, then 25:1 after that that's what i've been told by marine centers

reverse!

On the exact same engine - My OMC dealer told me to run 25:1 (a pretty rich mixture) for the first 3 tankfuls, then 50:1 afterwards. My old Evinrude 9.9 sailmaster (1974)was 50:1 also.
