Does anyone have an answer to remove used motor oil stains from the gelcoat. I was changing my oil yesterday and the hose from the suction pump I use to do the change came loose and squirted oil all over the cockpit. I wiped it up as soon as I could but it still left stains. I used "LA's Totally Awesome" spray cleaner on it and that helped a little but you can still see the stain.

Keeping the gelcoat waxed usually prevents the stains. I would use some mild abbrasive compound to try and remove the stain. For stubborn stains I use 800 grade wet sandpaper and then wax.

I'm not sure if FSR can handle oil in gelcoat but it works great on other stains. I agree with above about waxing. Typically lacquer thinner will cut oil so maybe you can start with that and I don't think it hurt gelcoat.(try it under a seat first)
