Here's a foolproof way to suck the most oil out of a Yanmar 2GM. Buy a 10-inch piece of brass tubing 9/32" from Ace Hardware and rig your poly tubes accordingly. Provides rigidity to get to the bottom of the oil pan. Works best if the boat has been recently run and the engine is hot. The hotter the better.

Don't forget the notch.

Just a very slight notch in that tube will keep the oil flowing. My oil extractor has tubing that is rigid but will get flush against the bottom of the pan. This breaks the flow and makes pumping very difficult. Thanks for the tip Bill.

Notch?

I'm not clear on the "notch" concept. Can you describe it more fully? I use a narrow aluminum extension tube to reach my Yanmar pan.

Notch the tube bottom.

You want to think you are getting all of the oil so you push the tube down until it hits bottom, right? At least that is what I do. But now the flow is stopped because the tube will seal itself against the bottom. You could cut off the tube end at a slight angle or you could notch it. I used a file to put a slight notch in the end, just enough to break that seal.
