Oil pressure and coolant temperature on Oceanis 41

At the instrument panel, does your LCD display oil pressure or coolant temperature? I get warning lights which will supposedly turn on if a bad condition exists, but I have no way of monitoring normal or deteriorating conditions before they happen.

The LCD does show engine hours and battery voltage.

The yanmar engine supposedly has the data, and the instrument panel can display, but somehow they don't seem to be connected. Is this normal, does it work on other boats?

Probably depends on the panel you get. Coolant temp? Do you mean engine temp? I had a temp gauge retrofitted on my 423 with a Volvo.

Let me clarify. I have the B series panel (standard) which has a tachometer and an LCD. When you press the left/right buttons, the LCD cycles through engine hours, battery voltage, engine temperature and oil pressure. The first two work, the other two show "---". The engine manual indicates this is a feature of the engine and that panel, so either something is broken, disconnected or there is a missing link I need to acquire. Would help me diagnose if I know it works the same for everyone. BTW, you can also get an upgraded panel (C series) with dedicated needles to show more things.

Noticed this on my 41 as well. I think Beneteau just install the bare bone light sensors on that type of engine. Temperature and oil pressure gauges are optional but I assume fairly easy to install.

I have the same panel on my 37. The dealer told me I could add temp and pressure senders on the engine and get that info on the LCD panel. Definitely on my list of upgrades to do.....sometime......

Do you guys have an idea of cost and the required parts that are missing? Since it doesn't require running new wires, since this is part of the existing harness, it seems it might be a relatively simple upgrade. Remove some plugs in the engine, install sensors, hook up wires?

On our Oceanis 321, we installed a thermocouple on the engine and added a temperature gage independent of the panel. Fairly straightforward and inexpensive.

contact your Yanmar regional distributor. I did an install that sends the engine and charge information to my Navico instruments, but your application should be the same. You change the temp and oil pressure senders to get a range-reading signal that uses your existing wiring harness. I assume that your engine, and your engine control panel are Yanmar parts, mine were. Beneteau was not part of the upgrade.

The sending units are optional and not included by Beneteau, so they need to be added to get the functionality. The wiring and gauges are good. Part numbers for the oceanis 41 engine are
119773-91700 and 119773-91650 from the 3JH5E service manual, you also need the T junctions. Part cost is approximately $50 and $160, which gives you an idea of the total cost, not sure if it requires draining the systems for install, if so this may be cheaper to do as part of engine maintenance oil changes/coolant changes. By the way I also looked into sending that engine monitoring data directly to the NMEA network so that I could use the big 12 inch displays, but that is strictly an add-on after the senders are installed. Some good options at reasonable prices outlined in this article:

How do you like your Oceanis 41? Looks like a great boat.

Slightly OT, but I love the boat. The cockpit is amazing and it sails well for a cruiser. My boat has a lot of the options (no genset, water maker, ac, etc.) and the finish/comfort is decent. Overall, a lot of boat for the money. Your dealer will have to work though, and you are better off with the boat close to them and the yard for all the little things. The setup is perfect for us other than perhaps a deck salon...
