My 2001 Cat 310 engine M-25XP developed a small oil leak behing the fwd crank dampener after losing the belt and engine overheated. the service manual does not describe this area, the on-line parts manual shows a seal pn 299419 and bearing case cover 300144. can I simply remove the dampner and case cover to expose the seal and replace with new??
2nd issue; the engine temp alarm did not go off and the location of the light is not in plain view so I missed the the warning of a lost belt..didn't shut down until steam was comming out of the companion way, way overheated...how do I fix/check the alarm? deke
