Oil in the barbeque regulator !!

Thought I had seen it all, but this one has me stumped. I was having trouble with the regulator on my Force 10 barbeque. It would flare-up easily and frost was forming on the unit. I bought a new regulator to hopefully solve the problem. To my great surprise, when I removed the old unit, a few ounces of oil flowed from the regulator onto my work bench. Any ideas how oil would get into the unit ? The only entry point I can see is the pin-point propane gas opening.....it doesn't make sense that fat from barbequing could enter there....could it ? I added a five pound propane tank last year to replace those little one pound bottles, if that is related somehow. Thankfully, we didn't have a grease (oil) fire last time was used the unit.

Kinda of the same

My regulator started not working and I ended up dumping a dark liquid out of the regulator. The regulator only continued to malfunction so I found another one finaly. Defender online. The small magnum grill I had I never had a problem. I don't the the force 10 regulators are near a good. Unfortunatly they are not interchangable.

thanks guys

The tank is two years old. I don't recall the problem last year. When they purge a new tank, what exactly do they do to it ? Perhaps it wasn't done properly or not at all.
