Oil changes with dipstick tube

Just bought new Graybeard pump going to change oil on my Hunter 376 next few days. With my old Tempo vacuum pump I would attach the hose to the dipstick tube top. Suck it out from there. Should I find a smaller dia tube and snake down inside the tube to suck out oil?

What's the consensus??

I use a Pella extractor. It has a smaller tube that goes down the dipstick tube to the bottom of the oil pan to get everything out.

I found that ¼inch copper tube fits the dip stick tube and a ¼inch ID hose to the vacuum pump. goes all the way to the bottom of the sump.

I doubted hose on the top of the tube will suck out all the oil. The dip stick tube doesnt go all the way to the bottom of the oil pan.

Plastic tube

I use a plastic tube down the dip stick tube aand suck most all of the oil out but not every bit and I just push the plastic tube down as much as possible trying to geet every drop out with a run dry pump and don't forget to run egine to get it hot so it pumps out easy.

I got the Tempo extractor when I had a Yanmar 3GM, and last year I tried it in my Honda BF50 outboard, again through the dipstick tube. To my surprise, it sucked it all out. After vacuuming it dry, I opened the factory drain with chute, which normally makes a real mess, and only a couple of drops came out.

I used the tempo with very good results.
I think, based on the Yanmar basic diesel course, that the engine was designed for suck out from the dip stick tube. Or at least it was the Rx'ed method.
The Tempo pump holds negative pressure well even if you start sucking air and can sort of vacuum out the crankcase. It really works pretty well.

There is little chance of getting out "all" of the oil just sucking it out from the top of the tube. It needs to have the smaller tube stuck down inside of the dipper sticker tube.

(To be honest, I wouldn't have thought that you could get much oil out at ALL just using the tube. I've never seen one come close to the bottom of the pan, and it's fair to say I've seen inside a couple of engines)..

Oil Change

The last time I used a new dip stick tube pump out that be dry run I was very happy to see that right after I changed the oil it looked pretty clean when checking the oil with the dip stick.
In the past when I changed the oil it was very black from the start and that told me not all of the oil came out,but with this new dry run pump that says this pump is OK to run dry and thinking it doesn't use a impeller but instead uses maybe vacum instead.
But any way after the pump sucked all the oil out I still keep sucking it out by push the tube in and out until no more drops coming out and the key is to get the oil hot so it will flow out in the tube.
Any way the oil still looked clean after changing it for a long time,I got the dip stick tube pump from AMAZON and it has the pump mounted on top of a white container aand says it can run dry.
