I have to buy a new oil change pump. I see that Waste Marine sells two models that I'm interested in. One has a 6.9 quart capacity and one has a 2.85 quart capacity. I have a Universal M35B engine, and I forget how much oil it takes. Is it worth getting the larger one? Anybody have any thoughts? What do others have?

Think of how you are going to use it. Will it fit in the space, be stable when filling, not spill when you disconnect or move to or from the transmission etc.?
The tubes have always been the bigger problem for me. The drain hose on the m-25 was pretty nice but sliding the suction tube over the dipstick tube on the 3ym30 works equally well.
The smaller vacuum pump works well for me.

This is the best money can buy. Suck and blows.

I use it for cars and boats now. It gets more oil out than draining because the drain hole has a nut welded inside. The flex hose can get to the lowest part of the drain pan.

Also use it to inject anti-freeze to my lawn sprinkler pipes for winter.

Don't waste your money on a small unit. It harder to carry an almost full tank to the waste depot.

Almost for, sure your motor takes more than 2.8 quarts. So larger it is unless you want to empty canister and reconnect etc....less mes and time with the proper size.

larger is better.... its not so large as to make it a burden by any means, and being able to suck the oil out all at once without having to empty it halfway thru, is a much cleaner and easier way to to it.... also, if you have enough capacity, you can suck the transmission oil out, so you can change it while you are in the mood. ....and carry it all away in the same container so it can be emptied away from the boat and the water.

The specification on the Universal M35B engine says it holds 5.44 quarts. Therefore, you will need the 6.9 quart oil extractor from West Marine. After the engine is warm it will extract nearly all the oil into its container without a mess. That is what I use.
