I just bought a 1993 Cat 30 and am ready to change my oil for the first time. I have a Pella vacuum pump that has a very rigid hose but my dipstick tube has a sharp bend before it goes into the pan so the tube won't get all the way to the bottom. Does anyone have experience with this challenge and use a tube that makes the turn or do you just suck out all you can and call it good?

Your 1993 MKII should have a separate hose that you can use to suck out the oil. Look at the bottom of your oil pan and trace the hose to the end that has a "cap fitting" on it. Simply remove the fitting, attach your pump and suck it out.
I would advise that you run your engine first to warm up the oil. You should get more oil out via this method versus going down the dipstick.
