There was a young handsome fella about the age of 16 who took his sweetheart sailing on his father's handmade sailboat. They fell in love but separated when they went off to separate colleges. Several years later, they meet again, and fall in love even more than before, and plan to marry. In a romantic mood, they eye sailboats that they have each longed for through the years...perhaps with some sentiment recalling those blissful summer days?

Well, the not-as-young-but-still-not-old couple are on the East Coast and see the beauty of the sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay and decide to buy a Beautiful C&C Yacht, a 24 foot, painted the same color as the roses the young man bought his girl for every occasion...The Yellow Rose becomes the name of the new yacht the couple bought for the purpose of their honeymoon.

HOWEVER, neither knows the real story of sailing a boat!

To help this couple in love to fulfill their romantic journey, ALL help would be so appreciated to aid us in setting sail on our life together.

IF you know of someone who offers lessons near Washington, DC, Northern Va, Annapolis, we would be happy to pay for help. If you know of a great book, dvd, anything, to get us started, we would be so grateful. We are taking a beginners course, where we hope to learn enough to get out of the marina and drop anchor while we enjoy the sea and sun.

We haven't stopped at this, however, as we already have found a slightly larger ship, with a lovely romantic story that adds to this story...but, more on that later. Mr. Our Honeymoon Yacht wants to take this larger yacht to the Islands, south of Florida. Mrs.-to-be Our Honeymoon Yacht dreams of a trip around South America...

Romance has certainly found us! We are so happy and hope to find the perfect sailor to give us a lesson or ten. :)

Thanks so much,
Soon to be on...
Our Honeymoon Yacht!

Similar Story

Have a similar story. We just upgraded to an old 33. Here are some fatherly suggestions from a series of mistakes I have made over e years:

My wife suggests you both do a honeymoon in the Islands on a charter. Have a captain during the days the first week and yourselves the second week

Get in the habit of paying someone to do your boat maintenance so you guys can concentrate on sailing

Don't have kids - you can't afford them now

If you do have kids, when they get old enough don't try to teach them to sail on your boat. Buy a daysailer like an optimist or a sunfish to they actually are in control. If you take them cruising from the start they really won't learn how to sail

The length of your boat should be your age until you reach 50. (I am 20 years behind schedule and I feel it on Sunday nights)

Once you get good at it go for extended cruises. Now that is how you really know you have married your soulmate.

Get a second job.

Never expect to have a nice car

Enjoy !
