"Official Number permanently affixed on interior structure -- numbers not less than 3 inches in height." I've recently documented my boat with the Coast Guard and am curious how others have fullfilled the above requirement. Thanks in advance for your replies.

My Catalina dealer

had the number routed into a piece of wood and glued it to the hull under the settee. I guess that's "permanently affixed."

I bought 3" self adhering black letters and numbers that are used on the hull of registered boats. I put these inside the stabboard stern locker on the cockpit wall and covered them with clear epoxy. You need to open the locker and look to the left to see them. They can not be removed without grinding, etc. I got the idea from another Catalina 350 owner.

Port Cockpit locker

I routed the number into a piece of teak and glued it to the upper-most portion of the aft bulkhead of the port cockpit locker. I also confirmed this with the Coast Guard prior to doing so and keep a printed copy of the confirmation email with the documents for any possible officious interpretation of the regs by a boarding officer.

Epoxy and stick on numbers

Thanks for the reponses here. After doing a search of the archives it seems clear epoxy and stick on numbers was what most people went with. I installed using this method in the port lazerette with good results.
