I have an Oday 35 that develops Bad breath from the holding tank in the swamp known as DC summer. I have seen numerous posts about both products and looking for a "head to head" competition

Try 'em both yourself!

If the first one doesn't work, try the second one. However, it won't be a valid test unless you read and follow the directions meticulously. If there's anything about the directions that raises questions, ask 'em here.

OK, so what I do is dose with both. I use the recommended Odorlos and the same for KO. I do not add KO between pump outs, but I do for Odorlos following their instructions. It works very good. If we are on the boat for a week or so, I just use KO or nothing at all.

Now, Peggy will tell you it's a waste to use both. Despite the two being compatible, she will say one or the other will work depending upon, essentially, the quality of your air circulation (with respect to KO if good being better) or lack of it (with respect to Odorlos if bad being better), so figure it out and use one or the other. Just trying to save some typing for Peg here... So, notwithstanding her admonition, this is what works for us. We buy in large quantities and fill the smaller containers to keep on the boat.

Thanks Peggy and Rick. I am installing a larger thru hull for the vent line this week, since the line is already 1 inch but the thru hull is the old stainless variety. In the past ko worked well enough, but once we recommissioned this spring it just doesn't seem to keep up, so I am trying odorlos, plus it was on sale this week. I will post any further questions shortly.
