Ode to Jabsco customer service...

Good customer service rarely gets a mention, usually only the bad.
Last year my almost new Twist Lock pump started getting harder and harder to pump. A bit of research and I learned about their manufacturing defect. At this point the pump was a few weeks out of warranty. I believe it was Peggie's suggestion that I call Paul Campagna at Jabsco and plead my case. So I called, had a great chat and Paul promised me replacement parts and gaskets.
That was last August. Fast forward to yesterday - nothing ever arrived. So I called Paul and left a message explaining the situation. He called back this morning and told me the parts were (according to their records) shipped out last August. I was expecting that would be the end of it but then he told me another pump was being shipped today. No issues, no hassles just one satisfied customer. He could have just said "sorry, we shipped it" but he didn't.
I realize their products are not the most durable (and reflected by their price) but it's nice to be treated honestly and fairly.

An amusing update.
After a month, I called back to see if the same thing had happened again.
And yes, the replacement order had mysteriously vanished once again.
More assurances that it would be sent out immediately. I was also told it couldn't be shipped USPS as it was coming from Mexico (USPS has no brokerage fees to Canada).

So it did actually show up five days later but via FedEx and with a $70 "fedex brokerage fee" payable. In reality, I saved about $30 over buying the pump on sale at the local marine store :)

Funny thing - it was shipped from California, not Mexico - so it could have been sent USPS and saved me $70.

I'm still a happy camper - the head now works properly!
