O'Day22 - How do you refill the sinks water tank?

I just bought a 74 O'Day 22!First Question - How do I refill the water tank for the sink?It has a tube running from the spigot/pump into the floor and a drain line through the side of the hull but I can't figure out how to refill the tank.

There should be a 5 gal. water tank under the v berth you can just remove it and fill it

My tank is in the stbd laxarette...

...in the cockpit, on the inboard forward corner. Mine is an '82, has a (I think) 15 gal tank. Might be a previous owner's mod? I siphoned most of what was in there into a bucket (a little at a time) and dumped it, then got the rest out by pumping thru the sink, cycled 10 gal of very diluted bleach water thru, then emptied again & refilled. Still has some sediment in there, we use it for washing dishes etc, not drinking. We haul gallons of distilled water for that. Our boat is new to us too, we will probably try to fix this in the winter...

Water Tank

Hey Phil;I have a 1979 Oday 22 centerboard and it has a (I think) 5 gallon acrylic tank nestled under the cockpit, just next to the battery in the starboard cockpit locker. There is a fill hole there that you access through the cockpit locker. I read about the flushing activities of cleaning out the tanks. I had to do the same earlier this year when oil accidentally spilled into the tank. I rigged a hose and put water in the tank with a little "Dawn" dish detergent. The detergent ate up the oil and left a mess of suds. I was able to rig a small hose connected to a small electric pump from Sears. While pumping out the tank, I filled the tank with water through the tank neck. It took about 4 times before I got clear water flowing through the discharge from the electric pump.I plan on adding an additional tank under the port bunk to add water capacity and add ballast to the boat to offset the motor's weight. I plan to rig both tanks up to the sink with a "Y" connection. but that's a long way off now as my current budget is dedicated to replacing or repairing the old iron genny.Happy sailing!Stu Timm"Karakahl"1979 O'Day 22 CBCenterport, Long Island
