Hobbie and O'Day Holder14 and Tempest Neenah
I am a proud owner of a 1964 O'Day Tempest 23' and have worked 2 years, so far, on restoring her. A month ago I finally got her in the water and love the way she sails.

I have revived the old website sailthetempest.com and am looking for any information, photos, suggested projects and modifications any of you old salts may suggest.

Particularly, I understand that many have modified their inner shrouds due to some mast problem? Anyone have any details of this modification or the reasons for it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not exactly on point but I have a question for you on the keel attachment for the Tempest. How is the keel/hull interface constructed? I'm looking at a Tempest to buy and was wondering how robust the keel attachment is. Did you have to do any work on the keel/hull interface? I looked at a 1965 Tempest and this one had a mild steel plate with about 6 stainless bolts in a straight line through the plate. The plate sat on top of a fiberglass flange that I assume is part of the hull layup. There was also lateral bracing of the keel structure that appeared to be solid fiberglass, I think.

Any information you can provide would be a big help in making my decision.

Thanks.
